The Activist art collective
Art is Resistance
ABOUT US
We all know the iconic painting of Ruby Bridges walking to school surrounded by national guard members, Pussy Riot’s rise to fame after their provocative performance in Moscow, and the street art that continues to survive in Gaza. Art has been an integral part of all resistance movements. Why? because it WORKS. Art immortalizes human experiences and changes social perception. Today, the painting of Ruby Bridges reminds us of the U.S. fight for civil rights and Pussy Riot’s notoriety freed them from a two year sentence in a Russian penal colony.
Our goal is to establish a network of artists who want to use their talents to fight against bigotry and hate through non-violent resistance. If you are a visual artist, performance artist, musician, or poet and want to join our mission, find community, and collaborate with other artists, fill out the form below and follow us on Bluesky @theactivistartcol.
